Alghero: a walking tour

Explore Alghero with Sardinian Experiences

Length: 4–5hr, usually afternoon and evening

Travel up the coast to the lively and lovely town of Alghero, where the historic Catalan imprint is still strong. The relaxed walking tour is guided by a local expert and takes in some of the most fetching nooks of the beautifully preserved walled town. At the end of the tour, you’ll have an hour or two to relax and do your own thing.

Join a small, accompanied group to experience the delights of the country and coast around Bosa. It’s all fairly flat and traffic-free. The bikes are in tip-top condition, helmets are provided and the guide will go at your own pace.

Bird Safari

Bird safari with Sardinian Experiences

Length: About 4hr, usually early morning or late afternoon

Join a small group to explore the local wildlife, with the chance of spotting Sardinia’s fabled griffon vultures—the Bosa-Alghero coast is home to Italy’s only autonomous colony. The main part of the trip is on foot, but nothing too strenuous—a relatively straightforward hike of 3—5 kilometres in an awe-inspiring landscape. This leisurely stroll explores the lovely town of Bosa from top to bottom, taking in the fascinating tanneries museum, the richly embellished Cathedral and the ruined Castello Malaspina at the top of the town. Join an English-speaking guide for a ramble in the countryside or along the coast around Bosa. Learn the secrets of the Mediterranean scrub, soak up some stirring sea views and take in a lungful of pure country air. Don’t expect an endurance test—the pace and length will be governed by you—but you can expect to return exhilarated and radiating a healthy glow!

No hard graft, no rigorous grammar and testing, but a relaxed and friendly introduction to the language—enough anyway to get by in social encounters and practical situations. Learn on holiday when you’re most receptive with our talented local teachers Valeria and Damiano, and put your new knowledge to immediate use while out and about in Sardinia!

Take to the river! Accompanied by a guide, you can experience true tranquillity on the beautiful River Temo, fringed by rushes and frequented by herons and other aquatic life. Unearth the secrets of Sardinia’s little-known Nuraghic culture. Transport is provided to 2—3 outstanding sites in the vicinity where you can appreciate the wonders of this prehistoric people—all explained by knowledgeable local guides. Malvasia from Bosa

Length: 2–3hr, late morning and lunchtime

Bosa is renowned for the honey-toned Malvasia wine that is produced hereabouts. A lecture with slides in an old-town cantina gives you the full picture—and a sampling or two(!)—and is followed by an al fresco lunch at a nearby restaurant, where you can savour a selection of Sardinian specialities.
