In the granite-peaked Gallura region in northern Sardinia, the port of Olbia is within reach of some of the island’s most stunning coastline, most famously the élite Costa Smeralda. But Gallura’s interior is equally compelling, not least the mountain towns of Tempio Pausanias and Aggius. South along the coast, Cala Gonone lies at the bottom of steep cliffs and features lovely sandy beaches.
